Welcome to Beluga, Behind the Glass, an interactive mini-game!
Maintain Beluga's health level with food, music, and toys.
Be sure to keep a close eye on it, as the health bar drops over time!
Say hello to Beluga, a beautiful white whale from the Arctic!
The scientific name for the beluga,* Delphinapterus leucas *, which means
'white
dolphin
without
a fin'.
They're also nicknamed 'sea canaries' because of their vocalizations.
Belugas are opportunistic feeders, preying on about 100 different
kinds of animals, including wide variety of fish, squid,
crabs, and other invertebrates.
An adult beluga consumes approximately 2.5% to 3% of its body weight
per day - which is about 18 to 27 kilograms of food!
Belugas are incredibly intelligent, and they can get bored.
To keep them happy, they need to be mentally stimulated with what's called 'Enrichment'
- including toys, training sessions, and even acoustic stimuli like instruments.
Are you ready to be their DJ and play some music for them?
The beluga whale's 'melon' is a flexible, rounded structure on its
forehead. It helps produce and focus the sounds they use for
echolocation.
The melon changes shape when the whale is vocalizing, allowing it to
precisely direct these sounds and navigate its environment.
Beluga shows stress — spinning in circles and snapping its jaw.
You tried your best.
But Belugas are born to travel thousands of kilometers, not circle inside glass walls.
A tank is not a home; their journey belongs to the wild, stretching over miles, not meters.
